Welcome to the updated Center for Digital Strategy community. We are just building and getting going. There is a lot of possibility, and I’m excited to share with you the why and what. I believe in the potential of this community to overcome the challenges we face.
My commitment to you is unwavering. I understand the difficulties in finding consistent digital strategies for nonprofits, advocacy, and campaigns. This is why I wrote the book ‘The Digital Plan’ and launched the training website under the same name. I’ve dedicated myself to experimenting with various methods to bring you the latest digital strategies and the tools to enhance your organizations and projects.
As I was getting things started, the Slack and Facebook groups boom made building a community site more questionable. But what I kept seeing were missing gaps in what people were able to do in these spaces. We were all still too segmented across platforms. Then more became clear:
- Slack communities can be overwhelming
- Too brief to find information easily
- Facebook groups were great and then got deprioritized
- Complicated by more people on Facebook less
- With any social / tech platform, we could expect consistency less over the last three years.
But there were also missing gaps even when those worked well:
- Easy ways to connect
- Easy ways to communicate with nuance
- Either it’s one big and then messy group
- Or it’s smaller and gated
- Jobs are scattered all over
- Resources and messaging documents are scattered all over
- There isn’t an excellent directory for tools and agencies
That’s the backbone of the why and what. It’s just getting started. So join me and jump into the main Digital Strategy group. Post a job. Submit an article. Add your agency or tool to the platform.
